Barcelona are open to selling Robert Lewandowski if they receive a ‘good offer’ this summer with Man Utd and Tottenham both interested, according to a report.
Lewandowski has not been at his best after returning to Catalonia following the World Cup.
The Polish striker has only scored in four La Liga appearances since December and played the full 90 minutes of his side’s 4-0 defeat to Real Madrid in the second leg of their Copa del Rey semi-final after missing the 1-0 first-leg win at the Bernabeu through injury.
Thankfully for Xavi, he has plenty of attacking options and has been able to call on Ansu Fati, Ferran Torres and Raphinha to maintain their title push.
Real Madrid’s defeat to Villarreal on Saturday has left the Blaugrana in a very strong position ahead of the run-in. They are now 13 points ahead with 10 fixtures remaining.
Despite the fact they are suffering financially, Barcelona remain linked with a number of top players.
If they want to buy, however, they will probably have to sell first, and the sale of Lewandowski is surprisingly not being ruled out.
According to Todo Fichajes, if Barcelona receive a ‘good offer’, they will probably tell the 34-year-old to ‘pack his bags’.
Lewandowski’s drop off in form means he is no longer ‘non-transferable’ and is now a ‘possible departure’ as one of the club’s ‘highest earners’.
Barcelona feel ‘obliged’ to sell amid their financial issues, which are impacting their ability to register players.
Man Utd and Tottenham have both ‘asked for’ Lewandowski and it is said Barca are ‘awaiting a Premier League offer’.
The Red Devils are in the market for a new striker, while Spurs are only expected to sign one if Harry Kane – who is being linked with a move to Bayern Munich – leaves this summer.
Bayern sold Lewandowski to Barca last summer but opted not to sign a replacement and have been strongly linked with Kane ever since the Polish striker’s exit.
Lewandowski recently discussed his move to the Nou Camp, saying the ’emotions tore him apart’ when he realised it was becoming a reality.
“When did I know that Barcelona wanted me? I suppose it was in February or March. My dream has always been to play in La Liga,” he said.
“When the transfer was sealed, I called Anna and I remember that emotions tore me apart. I had goosebumps and even a tear in my eyes.
