Lazio ‘plan to offer Sergej Milinkovic-Savic a fresh four-year deal’ to fend off interest from Arsenal and Newcastle – but the midfielder looks set to snub the offer insisting ‘we’ll talk about it at the end of the season’

  • Milinkovic-Savic’s current deal is set to expire at the end of the 2023-34 season
  • Arsenal and Newcastle are monitoring the Serbian international’s situation
  • Lazio could risk losing their star midfielder for free next year if he doesn’t sign

Lazio have prepared a new four-year contract for star midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic to fend off Premier League interest as Arsenal and Newcastle eye a move for the Serbian international.

However, the 28-year-old has shown no signs of urgency in agreeing an extension to his current agreement, insisting ‘we’ll talk about it at the end of the season.’

His current contract at the Stadio Olimpico expires at the end of the 2023-24 season and Lazio are desperate to convince Milinkovic-Savic to commit to a new multi-year deal.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the proposed deal Lazio have put on the table includes a wage increase to £3.5 million (€4m) per season plus bonuses and includes a £52.5 million (€60m) release clause.

The Italian outlet claims that Milinkovic-Savic has no intention of signing off on a new contract amidst interest from Juventus and AC Milan as well as a host of Premier League suitors.
