Bellingham claim made as insider tells Liverpool what they need alongside star transfer

Jude Bellingham, Borussia Dortmund, April 2023

Transfer insider Dean Jones has told Liverpool they need “at least four signings”, as he admitted Jude Bellingham would make a “massive difference” for the side.

That Bellingham will be the Reds’ main transfer target this summer has been evident for some time. The lack of recruitment in the winter – only Cody Gakpo was signed – seemed to suggest funds were being saved for the summer.

What’s more, Bellingham has been linked throughout the season. Liverpool could be in with a good chance of sealing the transfer following the latest update.

Indeed, it’s been reported Bellingham has ‘distanced himself’ from another interested side, Real Madrid. He’s also apparently being encouraged by family to ‘try his luck in the Premier League’.

Insider Jones has referenced the fact that signing would be a massive one for Liverpool in their current state.

“A lot was made of the fact that Jude Bellingham could come in and transform Liverpool,” he told GIVEMESPORT.

“I’m sure if he was to be signed, it would make a massive difference in the middle of the park.”

Indeed, Liverpool’s midfield have come under scrutiny this season. That the midfield is an area of their squad that could do with a revamp is fairly obvious.

The majority of the most regularly featuring players are above the age of 30 – Jordan Henderson, Thiago Alcantara and James Milner.

While Jones feels Bellingham would be a particularly welcome addition, he also feels he’s far from the only change they need to make.

“They need at least four signings,” he added.

Indeed, it’s unlikely one signing, no matter how good, will be enough to change Liverpool’s fortunes. They’re currently eighth in the Premier League, behind Brighton and Aston Villa.

Obviously the expectation would be that they’d get back to the dominant side they had been for years before this season.

While Bellingham would obviously be a massive help, it seems fair to suggest Jurgen Klopp’s side could do with some more reinforcements.

There have been a number of other transfers mooted for the summer. One of which being Wolves’ Matheus Nunes, who the Reds are reportedly ‘still pushing for’ after the Molineux outfit removed his release clause.

The signing of the Portuguese alongside Bellingham would certainly signal the start of a move in the right direction from Liverpool.
