Maxime Chanot: “Three-Game Home Stand a Crucial Period.”

Defender Alexander Callens Departs New York City Football Club

April 4, 2023 – Major League Soccer (MLS)New York City FC News Release

Maxime Chanot believes New York City’s upcoming run of three successive home games could be the key to powering the Club’s push for more silverware.

The Boys in Blue are back on home soil for the next three weekends, welcoming Atlanta United, Nashville SC and FC Dallas to Yankee Stadium.

With a 100% record at home so far in 2023, and on the back of six consecutive wins on New York turf, Nick Cushing’s side are building a fortress in the Bronx.

Buoyed by a hard-earned point at New England Revolution, Chanot says the team are excited for their return, and eager to perform in front of the City fans, inspired by another electric atmosphere.

“I’m sure with the three games that are coming up at home, it’s going to be very crucial for us,” he said. “If we can get three victories, we’re going to be in a good position.

“We’ve won twice at home, drawn twice away, and lost two games. We’re always going to be disappointed because we’d love to have more points, but overall it’s a good result.

“It’s a good point that we took away [from Gillette Stadium]. We know it’s a hard to play there – New England is such a good team. They had four wins from the start of the season, so we knew it was going to be a hard game.

“I’m very positive. I’m very happy about the way we played – we looked solid, we played together, and we were happy with the way we reacted, the way we responded to the goal we conceded.

“Sometimes, you’re down one goal, but that’s part of the season – you have to be strong to answer, and that’s what we did, together as a team.”

Chanot added he feels he and the squad are in a good place overall, gelling well with every single player giving their all to contribute when given the chance.

With a healthy mix of youth and experience, the defender says the team are building solid relationships both on and off the pitch, strengthening week by week, and hungry for another season of success.

“Personally, I feel great,” he continued. “I feel very good physically, and I’m happy to help the team.

“We’ve got 23 quality players. Everybody can start, everybody can come off the bench and make the difference.

“That’s what they did again [against New England]. It happened in the last two games we played at home.

“We trust each other, and I am sure it is going to be a good rest of the season.”

NYCFC are back on home soil this weekend for the first of three successive home games.
