Liverpool are set to battle Arsenal for the signature of  highly rated Frankfurt midfielder Jesper Lindström and both clubs have found out the potential price tag for the player.

Journalist Florian Plettenberg said today that Liverpool are ‘highly interested’ in the player, with both Arsenal and Liverpool having made contact with Frankfurt over the signing.

He added while Frankfurt may want €50 million the price tag would realistically fall between 35 and 40 million.

Lindström has enjoyed a successful campaign in the Bundesliga this year, recording nine goals and four assists across 31 games.

The 23-year-old Danish international also played in each of his sides 3 World Cup games in Qatar last year.

He played a crucial role in Frankfurt’s Europa League winning run last season, providing 4 assists, and was named Bundesliga Rookie of the Year last season.

Fabrizio Romano also seemed to confirm interest from both clubs in signing Lindström.

Speaking to Caught Offside, Romano said: “There has been some strong speculation about Arsenal and Liverpool being in contact over trying to sign Jesper Lindström from Eintracht Frankfurt.

“I’d never deny info from others; can just say that I’m told it’s true that Premier League clubs are informed on Lindström but I’m not aware of proposals, bids or advanced negotiations yet. Price tag could be around €40m.”

The Reds will need to strengthen in the summer after a miserable 22/23 season which currently sees them sat 8th in the table, 30 points behind leaders Arsenal, and were soundly beaten by Manchester City last weekend.

Chelsea’s Mason Mount and Brighton’s Alexis Mac Allister have both been linked with Liverpool in recent months, and the club have a long standing interest in England and Borussia Dortmund star Jude Bellingham.

Lindström may be seen seen as a cheaper alternative to those players and with the prospect of Champions League football looking unlikely for Jurgen Klopps team, may be easier to attract.

The Frankfurt youngster can play higher up the pitch than most of Liverpools current midfield options, and has been described by some as similar to German World Cup winner Julian Draxler.

Earlier this season, the Bundesliga offical website said: “[Draxler] takes up very similar attacking positions to…
