Brendan Rodgers has been relieved of his duties as Leicester City manager after Saturday’s 2-1 defeat against fellow strugglers Crystal Palace.
Leicester are without a Premier League win since they hammered Tottenham 4-1 on February 11.
This means they have not won any of their previous six league encounters and Saturday’s late defeat at Selhurst Park has sealed Rodgers’ fate.
Following the defeat, Rodgers had this to say: “But we still were fighting, we were resilient, and it looks like by the end it is going to be a point so to concede right at the death with no time to come back it’s a really painful one.”
Leicester will be fighting, but without him, after the club confirmed on Sunday afternoon that they have dismissed the former Liverpool boss.
Rodgers, who recently celebrated four years in charge at the King Power, delivered two top-five finishes in the Premier League and the club’s first ever FA Cup success in 2021, but leaves by mutual consent.
A club statement read: ‘Leicester City Football Club has reached a mutual agreement with Brendan Rodgers that will see him leave the Club after four years as our Men’s First Team Manager.
‘Brendan departs King Power Stadium as one of the most successful managers in the Club’s history, having guided us to our long-awaited first FA Cup triumph in 2021, the FA Community Shield in the same year, two of the Club’s three highest Premier League finishes and consecutive European campaigns, including our first European semi-final in 2022.
‘Assistant Manager Chris Davies and First Team Fitness Coach Glen Driscoll will also be leaving with the Club’s thanks and best wishes for their future careers.
‘Immediate responsibility for Men’s First Team training and match preparation will be led by the Club’s long-serving First Team Coaches Adam Sadler and Mike Stowell.’
