March 28, 2023 – United Soccer League Championship (USL) News Release

TAMPA, Fla. – The USL Championship announced the Team of the Week for Week 3 of the 2023 regular season on Tuesday, with San Antonio FC goalkeeper Jordan Farr voted the Championship Player of the Week presented by Konami eFootball after recording a five-save shutout that included a stoppage-time penalty kick save in his side’s 1-0 victory against Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC.

The reigning USL Championship Goalkeeper of the Year, Farr has made a stellar start to the new campaign which continued this past Saturday night at Toyota Field. The 28-year-old made a pair of important saves late in the first half to keep the rematch of last season’s Western Conference Final in the USL Championship Playoffs scoreless, but after SAFC had taken the lead with seven minutes to go he delivered another signature moment with a diving stop to his right to keep out a penalty kick by Zach Zandi in the eighth minute of stoppage time. The save served as the final moment of the match as a sellout crowd of 7,938 fans rose in celebration in the aftermath.

Farr earned 56 percent of the ballot to claim the award. The Charleston Battery’s Fidel Barajas finished second with 25 percent of the poll after the 16-year-old starlet recorded his first goal in the Championship and added his second assist of the season in the Battery’s 3-0 win against the Tampa Bay Rowdies at Patriots Point on Saturday night.

The Championship’s Player of the Week is selected by the USL National Media Panel, which is made up of representatives from each media market in the Championship.
