Graduate Rebecca Murray started the Pack off by reaching first on an error by the Cardinals shortstop. With one two outs, MaKayla Marbury stepped into the box and was hit by the first pitch thrown her way. Sophomore Hannah Goodwin took the box and singled to left field, allowing Murray to get home from second. The Wolfpack took a one run lead to end the top half of the first inning.

The Cardinals took the lead as the fourth batter to face pitcher Madison Inscoe homered to center field. The hit brought in three RBI’s to give them a two run advantage over the Pack. NC State ended the Cardinals scoring efforts after getting the next two batters out.

Senior Libby Whittaker recorded her third consecutive game with at least one hit when she doubled to center field to start the Wolfpack off in the top of the second. After back-to-back strikeouts, Murray took the box for the second time and singled up the middle, allowing Whittaker to advance to third. Louisville caught the pop up from Katlyn Pavlick, stopping the Pack from minimizing their lead. The Wolfpack recorded a three up, three down situation to end the second inning.
