Man Utd have ‘concrete interest’ in signing Red Devils fan with ‘the killer instinct’

Man Utd target Rasmus Hojlund celebrates scoring a goal

Man Utd are interested in signing Atalanta forward Rasmus Hojlund ahead of the summer transfer window, according to reports.

The Red Devils are in the market for a striker when the next window opens in early June with Erik ten Hag hoping to take some of the goalscoring burden away from Marcus Rashford.

Cristiano Ronaldo left a hole in attack when he left the club by mutual consent at the end of November before Man Utd signed Wout Weghorst on loan from Championship leaders Burnley.

Both Weghorst and injury-prone forward Anthony Martial are unlikely to be part of Ten Hag’s long-term plans for his attack and the Red Devils will need to buy at least one striker in the summer.

Tottenham’s Harry Kane and Napoli’s Victor Osimhen are the two big names being linked but younger strikers like Hojlund shouldn’t be ruled out.

And now Ekstra Bladet (via Sport Witness) claim that Man Utd have ‘concrete interest’ in Hojlund and the Denmark international has ‘greatly impressed’ numerous clubs this season.

It is understood that Hojlund is valued at anywhere between £23m and £31m by Atalanta and Man Utd are one of the clubs who ‘flirts’ with the striker.

A move to Man Utd would be huge for Hojlund, who is a self-confessed Red Devils fan, he said in January: “Now that you ask, I will not hide the fact that I am a huge Manchester United fan.

“So personally, it would be one of the biggest things for me, but of course that doesn’t mean that I would turn down other big clubs if the offers come at some point.”

Inter Milan right-back Denzel Dumfries is another player Man Utd have been heavily linked to but Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio is starting to doubt whether the Netherlands international will get his move to a big Premier League club.

Di Marzio told Soccernews.nl: “Chelsea in the last year had contact with Denzel Dumfries’ agent. So he’s still probably on their list but no concrete movement in the last week or days.”

The journalist added: “I don’t know if Manchester United or Chelsea will be the destination for Denzel Dumfries because his performances in the last year weren’t so impressive.

“Probably these clubs will have some doubts about an offer for him. At this moment there are players better than him in his position.

“It depends on the final…
