Chelsea are in advanced talks to sign Norwich City youngster Alex Matos.

As reported by Fabrizio Romano, the 18-year-old is set to join Chelsea on a free transfer, with the deal to include add-ons.

Chelsea are eager to have a very strong Under-21 side for next season, with the club’s head of youth development and recruitment Jim Fraser having identified Matos as a player with much potential.

Matos is capable of performing effectively as a central midfielder or out wide.

This season he has made 13 appearances for Norwich’s Under-21 side in the second tier of Premier League 2 and has provided three assists.
