Sheikh Jassim wants top Liverpool target as ‘marquee signing’ with Ten Hag to get enormous ‘war chest’

Man Utd target Jude Bellingham celebrates

Potential new Man Utd owner Sheikh Jassim wants to sign Jude Bellingham if he gains control of the Premier League club, according to reports.

Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani, the chairman of Qatar Islamic Bank and the son of a former Qatari prime minister, is expected to submit a second improved offer for the club after the deadline for takeover bids was extended.

There was initially a 9pm cut-off put in place on Wednesday night for any parties looking to submit revised offers for Man Utd with reports that both Jassim and founder of INEOS Sir Jim Ratcliffe both intend to meet the new deadline.

Jassim and Ratcliffe are the only two bidders to have gone public with their offers with the Glazer family reportedly receiving as many as eight offers for the club.

And now Football Insider claims that Man Utd are ‘planning to enter the race to sign’ top Liverpool target Bellingham ‘should the Qatari bid for the club prove to be successful’.

Sheikh Jassim is understood to be a ‘huge fan’ of the England international and ‘could move to make him a marquee signing’ with other reports indicating it’s likely he will move this summer.

Football Insider adds:

‘There is growing talk from those near to Sheikh Jassim that a huge war chest will be at Erik ten Hag’s disposal if they buy the club and they will immediately go all out for the England star.’

‘Manchester City and Real Madrid are also keen on his signature in what what will be an elite-club race for one of the world’s most in-demand players.

‘United will also likely to be able to offer Champions League football and the promise that Bellingham will be a star player at the club straight away.’

CBS Sports journalist Ben Jacobs insists there is actually no ‘specific new’ deadline in place for takeover offers at Man Utd but bidders ‘are expected to get in their second offers by the end of the week’.

Jacobs wrote on Twitter: “A dramatic night in the #MUFC sale process. A explaining what happened. Initial confirmations were provided that Sheikh Jassim and Sir Jim Ratcliffe had bid before the 9 PM deadline. But it later emerged nothing had been received by Raine Group…

“Here is where it gets complicated. Both groups were given an extension, but there’s conflicting reports as to why and who asked for it.

“My understanding is that Raine Group did NOT change any deadlines, nor is there a specific new one in place for Sheikh Jassim or Ratcliffe. However, the groups are…
