Man Utd blocked Mourinho from signing key Liverpool man as manager ‘wasn’t given the money’

It has been revealed that Jose Mourinho was prevented from signing Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk while he was head coach at Man Utd.

The former Chelsea manager regularly butted heads with United’s hierarchy – Ed Woodward in particular – while he was the club’s head coach. After exiting Old Trafford, he indicated that he wanted to avoid “internal conflict” in his future jobs.

Liverpool paid £75m to sign Van Dijk from Southampton in 2018. The Dutchman has established himself as one of the best defenders in the world following his move to Anfield.

Speaking on the BBC’s Proper Football Podcast, Chris Kamara revealed that Mourinho wanted to sign Van Dijk before he moved to Liverpool.

“I can exclusively reveal that I told Jose [Mourinho] to take him to Manchester United and Jose said ‘these lot won’t give me the money for him.’ And he went to Liverpool.”

“But Tottenham want to keep him and renew his contract. They spoke to him and his agent many times. But it also depends on the new Tottenham manager, if Kane can see a winning project at Tottenham.”

Di Marzio adds that Osimhen will be sold for “between 130 and 150 million euros”.

“If they sell Osimhen for 150 million euros they are more than happy and then they don’t need to sell Kvaratskhelia.” Di Marzio added.

“I think Osimhen can leave Napoli and Paris Saint-Germain could be a possibility for him. But Manchester United are probably…
