Man Utd ‘power’ under Qataris would make Arsenal duo ‘stop and think’ about shock summer transfer

Man Utd told to sign Arsenal trio

Man Utd have been told that they would be able to snatch Martin Odegaard or Bukayo Saka away from Arsenal if Sheikh Jassim buys the club before this summer.

The Red Devils are currently up for sale and it was reported on Monday that Sheikh Jassim and Sir Jim Ratcliffe will be submitting fresh bids to buy the club from the Glazer family.

The club’s current owners are understood to be holding out for around £6bn and it is being suggested that the bidders are growing in confidence that the Glazers will sell Man Utd before this summer.

A potential sale will have an impact on Man Utd’s transfer business later this year. Stan Collymore has told them that they should forget about Frenkie de Jong after the midfielder said “no thanks” to a move.

“As for Manchester United – they shouldn’t pursue players that clearly don’t want to move to their club. De Jong may be off the table once again, but Collymore has encouraged Man Utd to look at Jude Bellingham, Odegaard or Saka if their takeover is finalised.

“If Manchester United end up getting taken over by ridiculously wealthy owners, there is no reason why they couldn’t look past De Jong and go after the real big hitters who are destined to become the next global superstar – Jude Bellingham for example. I know he probably won’t end up at Old Trafford in the summer, but that type of player is the kind of player I am talking about,” Collymore added.

“De Jong is great, don’t get me wrong, but this is Manchester United we’re talking about. They can blow most teams out of the water now, let alone under potential Qatari ownership.

“If they get taken over, what’s stopping them from going in for Arsenal’s Martin Odegaard or Bukayo Saka in the summer? – You’re not telling me Manchester United’s financial power wouldn’t at least make the Gunners, as well as the players themselves, stop and think.

“The point is though if De Jong doesn’t want the move, fine – leave him where he is and move on. United are a big enough club to find the next best, or an even better, midfielder, if…
