SEATTLE, WASH. – After suffering its first loss of the season last weekend at FC Cincinnati, Sounders FC (2-1-0, 6 points) returns home to host reigning MLS Cup champion Los Angeles FC (2-0-0, 6 points) on Saturday, March 18 on the Emerald Queen Casino Pitch at Lumen Field (1:00 p.m. PT / Apple TV, FOX, iHeart Media, Sirius XM FC, El Rey 1360 AM).
Despite LAFC joining MLS in 2018, the two sides have already met 12 times in regular-season play, with Seattle holding a 3-6-3 record in the series, including a 3-1-2 mark at Lumen Field. Seattle has won both postseason matchups, most notably a 3-1 win at LAFC in the 2019 Western Conference Final en route to the Rave Green’s second MLS Cup.
Coming off a 2022 campaign that saw the club win both the Supporters’ Shield and MLS Cup, LAFC is 2-0-0 in MLS play so far in 2023, in addition to advancing past Alajuelense 4-2 on aggregate in the Concacaf Champions League Round of 16. Steve Cherundolo’s side now faces Vancouver Whitecaps FC in the CCL Quarterfinals.
Following the match against LAFC, Seattle hits the road to take on Sporting Kansas City on Saturday, March 25 at Children’s Mercy Park (5:30 p.m. PT / Apple TV, iHeart Media, El Rey 160 AM).
