Barcelona are ‘considering reigniting their interest in signing Joao Cancelo on loan’ this summer, according to reports. 

The Manchester City full-back is currently on a six-month loan with the German giants, following a shock January deadline day departure, after reports suggested that he had been involved in a training ground bust-up with Pep Guardiola

The 28-year-old, who denied that he had fallen out with the City manager, has struggled in Germany too, recently falling out of favour with Julian Nagelsmann after he was benched for their 2-0 win against Paris Saint-Germain in the last-16 of the Champions League on Wednesday night. 

And according to SPORT, Barcelona ‘could’ make a move for the defender, with club bosses ‘hopeful that he could be available on loan’ after his time at Bayern Munich is up.

It was reported earlier this week that the Bundesliga champions would turn down the chance to make his loan move permanent, which would see him return to City where he is contracted until 2025 after signing a six-year deal with the club in 2019.

But despite having recently agreed a contract extension to keep current right-back Sergi Roberto at the club until 2024, Barcelona appear to be keen to bolster their full-back stocks and will look to sign the Man City defender this summer. 

The report says: ‘Both the board of directors and the technical secretariat welcome the possible incorporation of this player, who would arrive on loan since Manchester City is willing to loan him out and Bayern Munich, his current club, has no intention of maintaining his loan or neither…
