Simon Jordan does not believe Graham Potter is the right man for Chelsea despite their comeback win in the Champions League against Borussia Dortmund.
The Blues beat the Bundesliga side 2-0 on Tuesday evening after suffering a 1-0 defeat in the last-16 first leg.
That means Chelsea have won two in a row – keeping a clean sheet in both matches – which will be a huge relief for Potter.
The former Brighton boss has been under a severe amount of pressure with Chelsea lingering in mid-table and looking very unlikely to finish in the top four in the Premier League.
Former Crystal Palace owner Jordan has been strongly critical of Potter and recently told him to stop moaning.
Victory at home to Leeds United on Saturday was Chelsea’s first in the Premier League since January 15 and means they are 11 points behind fourth-placed Tottenham.
The Chelsea job is a very difficult one. The fans are extremely demanding – which is fair given their success over the years – and hundreds of millions of pounds have been invested in the playing squad.
It is a rebuilding process under Potter, however. He has an extremely bloated squad and it will be fairer to judge him next season when some first-team players are offloaded.
Getting through to the quarter-finals of the Champions League is a solid achievement for a manager with no experience in the competition.
However, Jordan is not buying into the quick turnaround in form and is adamant Potter is not the right personality for the Chelsea job.
“I see the necessity of [Potter] having gotten two wins out of the last two games against Leeds and Dortmund, otherwise I think he would have found himself in a far more difficult position,” he told talkSPORT.
“He’s given himself an element of a building block.
“Playing against Dortmund in the Champions League in a two-leg tie when you’re only 1-0 down from the first leg with a passionate crowd is very different from then going away to Leicester City on the weekend and having to do it in front of a different sort of crowd.
“I maintain, and I will maintain it until something changes my view on it, that Potter isn’t going to get Chelsea to the holy grail of being the side that’s going to win the Premier League, the side that’s going to give [Todd] Boehly what he’s paid £2.5 billion for, which is a blueprint of being a dominant force of English football.”
Chelsea are away to Leicester on Saturday before hosting Everton a week later.
