The teams with the most wins in Europe in 2022-23: Man Utd top...

Manchester United might still be stinging from their historic 7-0 loss to Liverpool, but they can take some solace from the fact that they’re among Europe’s best-performing sides across all competitions in 2022-23.

It’s been an interesting and competitive season across the big five leagues in Europe, with some surprise packages at the summit alongside some of the usual suspects. There have also been some early shocks in Europe and the domestic cups.

Here are the seven teams from Europe’s major leagues to have won 25 or more matches in all competitions in 2022-23 so far:

7. PSG – 26 wins

PSG have suffered with a bit of a World Cup hangover, but any team boasting a front three of Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappe and Neymar will win football matches. It’s not rocket science.

6. Arsenal – 26 wins

Mikel Arteta’s Gunners have been remarkably consistent in the Premier League this season, with their last-gasp comeback 3-2 victory over Bournemouth their 20th win of 26 Premier League outings.

We can’t blame them for focusing on the league and exiting the FA Cup and League Cup early on as a result. They remain in Europe, though, with their largely second-string side winning five of six matches in the Europa League group stage to set up a last-16 meeting with Sporting Lisbon.

5. Barcelona  – 26 wins

Barcelona might have been pretty miserable in Europe this season – with defeats to Bayern Munich, Inter and Manchester United and just two wins against Viktoria Plzen from eight outings in the Champions League & Europa League – but they’ve been remarkably consistent in domestic football.

They’ve built up a healthy lead at the summit of La Liga, with 20 wins from 24 outings in the Liga, and are well-placed to make the Copa del Rey finals.

No fewer than 10 of their 26 wins this season have been via a 1-0 scoreline. Who had Xavi as the second coming of George Graham on their 2022-23 bingo card? Not us.

4. Manchester City – 26 wins

Pep Guardiola’s boys haven’t been at their relentless best this season. They were knocked out of the League Cup by Nathan Jones'(!) Southampton and have their work cut out if they’re to topple Arsenal in the Premier League title race.

But of course they’re on this list. You’d be a fool to write them off lifting one or more trophies come May.

3. Napoli – 27 wins

We absolutely love this Napoli team.
