Racing Louisville FC will soon be part of the world’s most popular sports video game, EA Sports’s FIFA series, which announced Monday it’s adding the National Women’s Soccer League’s 12 teams.

Starting March 15, FIFA 23 will feature NWSL squads complete with their authentic kits, star players and celebrations.

“For FIFA to include the NWSL in the game is a big step forward for American women’s soccer,” said Racing fullback Carson Pickett, a two-time all-league defender who has made two appearances for the U.S. Women’s National Team. “There are many reasons why this inclusion is important, from global exposure to inspiring younger generations. Now people can finally be their favorite NWSL player or team on one of the most popular video games in the world.”

NWSL commissioner Jessica Berman called the NWSL’s integration into the series that has become synonymous with world football “a monumental milestone for the league, the players and millions of football fans around the world.” The league and EA Sports will be rolling out various aspects of the game in the coming days and weeks ahead of the regular-season kickoff at the end of March.

Racing starts the regular season on March 26 at the Houston Dash, kicking off its 22-game slate in the Lone State State. Louisville’s home opener is set for 3 p.m. Saturday, April 1, against the Washington Spirit.

“The athletes who call the NWSL home are some of the best in the world, and we’re excited for the opportunity to further showcase their talent through this unique gaming experience,” Berman said. “We can’t wait for fans to begin playing and we look forward to continuing this celebration of the players and the league when we kick off our 11th season on March 25.”
