Reus Delighted as Dortmund Move Three Points Clear of Bayern in Bundesliga

Borussia Dortmund star Marco Reus was full of praise for his side who moved three points clear on the German Bundesliga table after their 10th straight win on Friday.

BVB brushed off fourth-placed RB Leipzig 2-1 with first-half goals from Marco Reus and Emre Can.

Emil Forsberg pulled one back in the second half but Dortmund got the win that moved them clear at the top, with second-placed Bayern Munich to play VfB Stuttgart on Saturday.

The win also makes it 10 in a row in all competitions for Dortmund, having been perfect since returning from the World Cup break.

Dortmund’s eight straight Bundesliga win means they have achieved a club record in the league, dating back to their 2011-12 championship season.

“To be honest, I didn’t really like the manner of this 10th win in a row,” Reus told DAZN. “In the second half we didn’t manage to keep the ball, to get more solutions, that wasn’t so good anymore.

“But we’re very happy to have won the 10th competitive game in a row. In the end, I’d rather win than play well and lose.

“It’s all about hard work, we’ve shown that in the past few weeks and today.”

Dortmund (49) are three points clear of Bayern (46), with Union Berlin (43) a further three behind them with both having games to come this weekend. Leipzig (42) are one point behind Union.

“Our main wish was to take back top spot in the table, apply further pressure and increase the gap to Leipzig,” Reus said. “We managed that.”

Reus won the penalty for his goal, having been felled by Leipzig goalkeeper Janis Blaswich albeit lightly.

“Anyone who knows me knows that I would never provoke a penalty,” Reus said. “He caught me and at that speed the minor contact was enough.”
