March 1, 2023 – Major League Soccer (MLS)Inter Miami CF News Release

The Inter Miami CF Academy announced today that it will be hosting the 2023 Freedom Cup in December. The second edition of the in-house, high-level tournament will take place from Dec. 14 to 17 at the Florida Blue Training Center and will encompass three age brackets: U-12, U-13 and U-14. Each participating team is guaranteed to play four matches, one per each day of the competition, in this year’s Freedom Cup.

“We are proud to announce the second edition of the Freedom Cup, which will once again bring high-level competition for our Academy teams to the Florida Blue Training Center,” said Inter Miami CF Academy Director Craig Dalrymple. “We are excited to host the tournament and look forward to its continued growth each year as it provides our Academy teams and other participating teams with high-level competition that will benefit their development.”

With the success of the Inaugural Freedom Cup this past December 2022, the 2023 Freedom Cup has the potential to expand from 12 teams to up-to 24 teams, and adds the Freedom Cup Qualifier allowing MLS NEXT and Partner Clubs the opportunity to qualify and compete in the 2023 Freedom Cup.

The Freedom Cup Qualifier will be played prior to the tournament later this year with age divisions that coincide with the Freedom Cup, U-12 (2012), U-13 (2011), and U-14 (2010).

The inaugural edition of the Freedom Cup, held over four days in December 2022, saw five teams compete across three age groups, with over 200 youth players participating across 24 matches.

Our Academy aims for this opportunity to give young fútbol players in Florida and beyond a chance to improve their skills and grow their level of competition.
