TULSA – A former five-year letterwinner for the Golden Hurricanes has inked a deal with Tulsa’s professional club following a successful preseason trail. FC Tulsa has signed defender and 2021 University of Tulsa alumnus Chase Bromstedt to its 2023 roster, pending league and federation approval.

“Chase has a lot of qualities we look for in an outside back,” said FC Tulsa head coach Blair Gavin. “He is very comfortable on the ball, allowing him to break opponents’ press and he also likes to press himself and play on the front foot. We look forward to having him in the team to help build our style of play.”

Bromstedt joins FC Tulsa following one season with the USL Championship’s Las Vegas Lights FC in 2022. The Parkville, Missouri native appeared 15 times for Las Vegas a season ago across all competitions and registered the first professional assist of his career.

Before his first pro season, Bromstedt established himself as a five-year starter at the University of Tulsa and constructed a shimmering collegiate career less than four miles from ONEOK Field. The wing-back started 65 of his 75 appearances for the Royal Blue and Oil Gold with nine goals to pair with 13 assists, totaling 31 career points.

The NCAA recognitions began piling up for Bromstedt by the end of his 2021 Super Senior campaign granted to him due to the COVID-19 pandemic. He proved a two-time United Soccer Coaches All-East Region Second Team award winner, received American All-Conference First Team honors in 2021 and Second Team honors in 2020, and earned a College Player Award of Distinction, an award given to players who exhibit quality character and leadership attributes.

Off the pitch, Bromstedt was named to the American Athletic Conference All-Academic Team three times.

“I’m very excited to sign with FC Tulsa and to come back to a city where I spent four years playing college soccer – a city which I have learned to love and the people in it,” said Bromstedt. “I’m excited to learn from Coach Gavin who has a lot of experience and a lot of passion for this game.”

Bromstedt spent seven years with the MLS’ Sporting Kansas City Academy and the US Soccer Development Academy for four years prior to committing to the University of Tulsa.
