Brighton are reportedly preparing themselves for a battle to keep hold of Roberto De Zerbi, with a number of Europe’s biggest clubs set to make a move for the Italian.

The 43-year-old has been attracting plenty of interest after carrying on the superb work done by Graham Potter.

De Zerbi has taken the Seagulls up to seventh in the Premier League table and is now being linked with the exit at the Amex.

According to the Telegraph, De Zerbi is being lined up as a Antonio Conte‘s successor at Tottenham should his compatriot leave the north London side at the end of the season.

The report goes on to claim that Spurs would also face competition from Italian giants Juventus and both Milan clubs, while Roma are looking for a potential replacement if Jose Mourinho decides to leave.

However, any potential suitor will have to cough up his release clause if they are going to bring him in this summer.

Reports in Italy claim that De Zerbi has a £11.5million release clause in his contract, after joining on a four-year deal back in September. 

De Zerbi said in an interview last month that he missed Italian football, but added he had no current plans to return. 

He proved himself to be one of Europe’s best young coaches during his three seasons at Sassuolo, earning the admiration of all Italy’s top clubs.

He ultimately joined Shakhtar Donetsk in 2021 but Juventus have traditionally had good relations with Sassuolo and De Zerbi’s work has been followed closely ever since he started to make an impression there.
