Xavi 'Satisfied' With Barcelona Win Amid Fatigue Worries

Barcelona head coach Xavi Hernandez was left satisfied as his side retained their eight-point buffer atop the Spanish La Liga table with a 2-0 win over Cadiz on Sunday.

First-half goals from Sergi Roberto and Robert Lewandowski sealed the win that moved the Blaugrana to 59 points, eight ahead of second-placed Real Madrid.

“Scoring twice before the break gave us a comfortable lead that practically sealed the win for us going into the second half,” Xavi told Movistar Plus.

“We had a good and solid first half and I’m satisfied, although we eased off after the break.

“Maybe the team got a little tired but we are happy because we kept our eight-point lead at the top of the standings.”

That fatigue is a looming factor for Xavi’s side who take on Manchester United on Thursday in the second leg of their Europa League playoff tie, having drawn the first leg 2-2 in Barcelona.

“Frenkie de Jong and Robert Lewandowski played more minutes,” Xavi told Marca.

“I think they have been playing a lot of minutes, that’s why I made the changes.

“The other day Pedri was injured and we cant afford more injuries.

“Let’s prepare for Thursday’s game from tomorrow and see how tired they are.”
