February 15, 2023 – Major Arena Soccer League (MASL)Milwaukee Wave News Release

The 7-time champion Milwaukee Wave is back in action with a pair of games this weekend, one at home Friday night at Panther Arena against the Ambush, and the other Sunday afternoon in Utica, NY against City FC.

The Wave is coming off a very emotional weekend, after shutting out St. Louis Friday at The Family Arena, 7-0 and then getting blasted by Baltimore the following day, 11-3.

“We’re a young team and we’re going have some up’s and down’s,” said Milwaukee Wave Head Coach Giuliano Oliviero. “To get a shutout in St. Louis, away from home is a very hard thing to do; we’re the only team to do that so far this season. That was big for us, and then Baltimore was a lesson learner. Not just playing against the experience that they have but also the unique, small arena and raucous, quick environment of SECU. There is a good chance we might see it again in the playoffs.”

“We’ve done well against the Ambush this year,” added Oliviero. “St. Louis is always a team we can’t take lightly and after what happened last Friday, I’m sure they were not pleased. They are going to bring everything they’ve got on Friday and we’re looking forward to it!”

The Wave will finish that game against the Ambush Friday in Milwaukee and then make their way to New York to face Utica City FC at Adirondack Bank Center, Sunday afternoon at 1pm CT.

“Utica’s building is difficult to play in; maybe not as difficult as Baltimore,” laughed Oliviero. “But there is a good atmosphere in Utica. The arena is electric and their fans are loud but we’ve had success against Utica as well this year. I know it’s difficult to win away from home but that’s our plan for this weekend.”
