Alabama’s Sydney Japic to Compete in Friendlies with Bosnia and Herzegovina National Team


TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Alabama’s Sydney Japic will compete in a pair of friendlies with the Bosnia and Herzegovina national team. Japic and the women’s “A” national team will open competition in Antalya, Turkey, on Feb. 17 kicking off against Serbia at 1 p.m. CT. Bosnia and Herzegovina will then face Morocco on Feb. 21 with the match kicking off at 3 p.m. CT.

  • Played 487 minutes over 15 games for UA, starting four matches
  • A member of the Alabama backline, she helped UA record seven shutouts last season
  • Her presence on the field helped the Tide outscore its opponents 37-11
  • Tallied two shots off the backline against Southern Miss and one shot on goal against UCLA in the College Cup
  • Competed in four NCAA Tournament games with Alabama
  • Competed with the Bosnian National Team for the UEFA U-17 and U19 Euro qualifier (2019 & 2021)
  • Scored a goal at the U17 UEFA Euro Qualifiers against Belgium in 2019
  • Both Japic and her sister, Chloe Japic from the University of Virginia, are the lone collegiate players competing for Bosnia and Herzegovina in the friendlies
