The NCAA champion UCLA women’s soccer team are proving to be champions in the classroom as well, as a program-record 18 Bruins, including nine players who started in the NCAA Championship game, were selected to the Pac-12 Academic Honor Roll in 2022.
Graduate student Lauren Brzykcy received her fourth career academic award while earning her Master’s in education. Earning their third career honors are redshirt junior Jen Alvarado (political science), senior Jackie Gilday (physiological science), senior Kylie Kerr (psychology), senior Brianne Riley (sociology) and senior Kali Trevithick (education). Juniors Megan Edelman (cognitive science), Kelly McManus (psychology), Michaela Rosenbaum (sociology) and Reilyn Turner (sociology) picked up their second career awards. Earning honor roll status for the first time were Sofia Cook (undeclared), Madelyn Desiano (Master’s in education), Sunshine Fontes (sociology), Ally Lemos (undeclared), Quincy McMahon (undeclared), Jayden Perry (undelcared), Lilly Reale (undeclared) and My Haugland Sorsdahl (Sociology).
To be eligible for selection to the academic honor roll, a student-athlete must have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.3 or above and have served at least one year in residence at the institution.
UCLA has had seven or more student-athletes earn Pac-12 academic honors every year since 2012.
