English clubs spent a record £742million during the January transfer window, according to a new FIFA report.
The world governing body has released an International Transfer Snapshot report, which further highlights the Premier League‘s dominance of the transfer market.
The report revealed £1.29billion was spent worldwide during the month, surpassing the previous record of £1.11bn set back in 2018.
English clubs accounted for £742m of the January spend, which represented a huge increase on their previous record outlay for the month of £412m.
FIFA added the figure represented an increase of 150 per cent compared to English club’s spending in January 2022.

The spend was spearheaded by Chelsea, with American owner Todd Boehly splashing out a record £323m on new arrivals last month.
Chelsea alone spent more than all clubs in Serie A, LaLiga, Ligue 1 and the Bundesliga combined.
The Blues completed the £107m signing of Enzo Fernandez from Benfica on transfer deadline day, with the Argentina star joining for a British transfer record.
Ukrainian winger Mykhailo Mudryk and French defender Benoit Badiashile were also among the club’s eight January signings, joining for £88m and £35m respectively.
The additions brought Todd Boehly’s spending to a whopping £566m since he took over the club last summer.
Newcastle and Liverpool were also among the Premier League clubs to complete major deals in January.
Anthony Gordon completed a £45m from Everton to high-flying Newcastle, while Cody Gakpo joined Liverpool from PSV for £44m.
