Man City star ‘wants to leave’ now ‘more than ever’ with Mbappe keen on reunion at PSG

Man City midfielder Bernardo Silva with Kylian Mbappe

Paris St-Germain are interested in signing Man City midfielder Bernardo Silva with Kylian Mbappe eager to reunite with his former Monaco teammate, according to reports.

Silva has been one of the Premier League club’s most consistent players under Pep Guardiola.

Man City signed him from Monaco for £45million in 2017 and the Portuguese international has won four Premier League titles, four League Cups and an FA Cup during his time in England.

The 28-year-old was strongly linked with an exit last summer with La Liga giants Barcelona showing an interest.

Silva was reportedly willing to leave the club but was not actively pushing for an exit, leaving Man City in a strong position, especially as they knew Barcelona would probably not be able to afford the player.

However, exit rumours continue to circulate, with French champions PSG also in the mix.

According to Le10Sport, Silva keen to leave the club and PSG are also keen on signing him.

In fact, Silva ‘is more than ever keen to leave’ City, while PSG will make him a top summer target.

The report states that the Parisien club tried to sign Bernardo last summer but ‘the case was quickly cut short’.

Former Monaco director Luis Campos joined PSG in July and having previously signed the Portugal star from Benfica, is keen to do the same again with his new club.

City boss Guardiola is unsurprisingly unwilling to let the player leave, but Silva’s ‘desire’ is to ‘open a new chapter in his career’.

Silva ‘aspires to take up a new challenge’ and will be a lot more ‘insistent’ this summer after being laid back about his future last year.

Campos brought the 28-year-old to Monaco and helped build the excellent side that reached the Champions League semi-finals in 2017.

That Monaco side was led by an 18-year-old Mbappe, who went on to sign for PSG that summer on an initial loan deal before leaving for over £150m.

The report states that Mbappe – who has a big say on transfers – is keen to reunite with Silva at the Parc des Princes.

However, PSG will need to keep an eye on competition from Barcelona.

It is said that it is ‘quite possible’ the Blaugrana come back in for Silva in the summer, though the City star is Campos’ ‘priority’.

Although the report does not mention City’s alleged breaches of Premier League financial rules, the potential points deduction, or even relegation could be playing a part in Silva’s mind, especially with Barcelona and PSG showing an interest.
