Barcelona are reportedly keen on snapping up Villarreal’s Juan Foyth in the summer to fill their gap at right back.

The Catalan giants have been left without a natural defender on the right after Hector Bellerin’s move to Sporting Lisbon on deadline day.  

The club usually utilise Jules Kounde at right-back, despite his abilities in central defence as well, while Sergi Roberto and Ronald Araujo are Xavi‘s other options. 

But Fichajes believe that Barcelona will be keen to snap up Foyth from their LaLiga rivals in the summer transfer window, to bolster their options there, and allow Kounde to play central defence if necessary. 

It is believed that the 25-year-old Argentinian defender is top of Xavi’s wishlist for the summer.

The former Tottenham Hotspur defender moved to Villarreal in 2020, initially on loan, before making a permanent switch the following year. 

Foyth largely featured as a centre back at Spurs, before moving to Spain, where he is under contract with his current club until the summer of 2026. 

If Xavi gets his wish, he could be moving away from The Yellow Submarine to the Nou Camp in 2023, with a rumoured market value of €25m. 

Foyth was part of Argentina’s successful squad at the 2022 World Cup, coming on as a substitute in the semi-final victory against Croatia. However, he did not feature when they beat France in the showpiece finale. 

Another of Xavi’s rumoured targets, Real Sociedad’s Martín Zubimendi, is highly coveted by Arsenal as well, so he might not remain in LaLiga.
