Everton have been offered the chance to sign 6ft 7ins Genk striker Paul Onuachu before the January transfer window closes.

The 28-year-old was the subject of an offer from Southampton last week with Genk originally asking for £16million.

The Toffees are pursuing a number of options. While Sunderland have signed Everton defender Joe Anderson on a three-and-a-half year contract.

Everton – who are currently sitting 19th in the Premier League table – are in desperate need of a goal-scorer for the remainder of the 2022-2023 campaign.

Additionally, Everton need to replace Anthony Gordon – who was sold to Newcastle for £40m plus £5m in add-ons last week.

Therefore, they could turn to Onuachu – who has been continually linked to the Premier League following his impressive for his Belgian Pro League club.

Speaking in December 2022, Onuachu said he was happy at Genk but refused to rule out a move to the English top-flight in the future.

‘I score a lot, I like being here. But: if there is an interesting offer this winter or next summer, we will look at it together with Genk. Because I still dream of playing in a big league’, he told HLN.

‘Who knows, anything can happen in football. But I’m still very happy at KRC Genk and I don’t necessarily have to leave. You should be happy with what you have and not think about what you don’t have. If there is concrete interest in the future, we will talk and then we will see.’
