Man United outcast to stay despite ‘receiving 10 proposals’ as Ten Hag blocks Everton loan move

Anthony Elanga celebrates a goal with Bruno Fernandes

Erik ten Hag is unlikely to let Anthony Elanga leave Manchester United before Tuesday’s transfer deadline despite a host of interest in the winger, according to reports.

Elanga played a decent amount under Ralf Rangnick last term but has found minutes harder to come by under Ten Hag.

The 20-year-old has played 20 matches across all competitions in 2022-23, though only seven of those appearances have come as a starter.

In those 20 matches, Elanga has failed to make much of an impact and is yet to score a single goal.

With minutes coming at a premium, a January loan has been rumoured.

There is no chance the Swedish international will be able to establish himself as a starter given the form of Marcus Rashford, so a loan move certainly does make sense.

According to Fabrizio Romano, there is plenty of interest in Elanga.

Writing on Twitter, the transfer expert said Manchester United have received ’10 proposals’ to sign the player on loan.

The club will make a decision in the final 48 hours of the transfer window, with Premier League strugglers Everton keen.

Romano claims that PSV are ‘pushing’ to bring in the youngster, while Borussia Dortmund remain keen after expressing an interest earlier this month.

While Romano has indicated that anything can happen between now and Tuesday evening’s deadline, David Ornstein has said otherwise.

Writing for The Athletic, Ornstein notes that ‘Everton are among the clubs keen to sign Elanga on loan’.

However, United’s ‘low attacking options’ has left Ten Hag very reluctant to let the player depart.

There is ‘little opportunity or finance to source a replacement’, meaning Elanga is likely to stay at Old Trafford until the summer.

While Everton look set to miss out on Elanga, they are hoping to reinvest some of the money they received for Anthony Gordon in Rennes winger Kamaldeen Sulemana.

Rennes apparently want €30m for the promising star. Everton lodged a bid on Sunday, Ornstein claims.

Ten Hag has such a thin squad and has also indicated that Facundo Pellistri will not be allowed to leave on loan in January.

After signing Wout Weghorst and Jack Butland on loan, Ornstein says further acquisitions are unlikely.

Saying that, United have ‘snapped up’ a player who is believed to have a bright future, the report adds.

The Red Devils have agreed a deal to sign 16-year-old Cardiff City striker Gabriele Biancheri.

After completing a medical over the weekend, Biancheri will sign a scholar…
