Monterrey, Mexico – The St. Louis Ambush lost their second consecutive game on their road trip to Mexico when they fell 7-4 to the Monterrey Flash Sunday afternoon at Arena Monterrey.

The Flash struck first when Walter Ayovi scored on a restart in the sixth minute of the opening quarter. Erick Rosas made it 2-0 with his unassisted tally in the eighth minute.

St. Louis put their first mark on the board when Curtis Kirby scored his first career goal with a shot into the low corner of the net in the eighth minute of the second period. Luis Angel Mendoza placed a shot out of reach of St. Louis goalkeeper Mark Baker in the tenth minute to increase Monterrey’s lead to 3-1. The Ambush responded on Robert Kristo’s goal in the thirteenth minute. At halftime, the Flash enjoyed a one goal lead (3-2).

In the second minute of the second half, a well-played sequence resulted in the equalizer for St. Louis. Will Eskay sent a backheel pass to Ado Jahic, who passed to Kristo, who nailed his second goal of the contest. Monterrey regained the lead (4-3) in the ninth minute of the third frame when Rosas pounded a shot off the wall that rebounded to a waiting Daniel Villela, who put it in goal.

The match ran away from the Ambush in the final quarter, as Monterrey tallied goals from Erick Tova, Ivan Monroy and Alexis Espinosa, giving the home team a 7-3 advantage within the first five minutes of the period. St. Louis got one back in the ninth minute when Kirby scored his second goal of the game, season and career. Down by three with just under five minutes left, the Ambush pulled Baker and and employed the sixth attacker in an effort to get back in the game, which ended with a 7-4 victory for the Monterrey Flash.
