Mourinho eyes Potter’s job at Chelsea, Arsenal line up ‘second offer’ for top target

Ex-Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho put his hands together and closes his eyes

Jose Mourinho is eyeing a third spell as Chelsea manager, while Arsenal are preparing a ‘second offer’ for one of their top January targets…

MOURINHO BACK TO THE BRIDGE?
Roma boss Jose Mourinho is eyeing a third term as Chelsea manager, according to reports.

The Portuguese coach won three Premier League titles, an FA Cup and three League Cups during his two spells at Stamford Bridge with his last stint ending in 2015.

And the Daily Mail insist that Mourinho is getting frustrated by the ‘lack of financial backing’ at Serie A side Roma and that he is ‘eager to return to England next season’. It is claimed that ‘an extraordinary third spell at Chelsea would be his ideal scenario and his representatives have let it be known that he would be interested in any vacancy at Stamford Bridge’.

Despite Chelsea’s awful first half of the season, the Blues hierarchy plan to ‘stand by’ Graham Potter but Mourinho has ‘always preferred working in the Premier League to elsewhere’ and won’t give up.

ARSENAL PREPARE SECOND BID
Arsenal are ready to make another offer for Brighton midfielder Moises Caicedo, according to reports, after the player publicly stated he wanted to leave the Amex Stadium.

After news emerged that Brighton had rejected a £60m bid from Arsenal for the Ecuador international, Caicedo released a statement on Instagram. It read: “I am grateful to Mr Bloom and Brighton for giving me the chance to come to the Premier League and I feel I have always done my best for them. I always play football with a smile and with heart.

“I am the youngest of 10 siblings from a poor upbringing in Santa Domingo in Ecuador. My dream always to be the most decorated player in the history of Ecuador.

“I am proud to be able to bring in a record transfer fee for Brighton which would allow them to reinvest it and help the club to continue to be successful.

“The fans have taken me into their hearts and they will always be in my heart so I hope they can understand why I want to take up this magnificent opportunity.”

And now the Daily Telegraph insist that Arsenal ‘are expected to return with a second offer as they look to test Brighton’s resolve’ ahead of the transfer deadline next week.

Arsenal ‘are eager to strengthen in midfield following an injury to Mohamed Elneny’ but the Seagulls ‘have no financial need to cash in on Caicedo after selling Marc Cucurella to Chelsea for £60m at the start of the season’.
