PHOENIX, Arizona – Phoenix Rising FC has signed forward Danny Trejo, pending league and federation approval, the club announced today.

“We are very happy to have Danny with us,” said Phoenix Rising FC head coach Juan Guerra. “It only took one phone call with Danny to notice how hungry and humble he is. His quality, leadership, versatility and hunger make him a great addition for us.

“He has desire to learn, grow and be successful. I am sure he will be able to help us achieve our goals and we will be able to help him achieve his individual and collective goals as well.”

Trejo (24), an 2021 MLS SuperDraft selection by Los Angeles Football Cub, has appeared in 44 matches with USL side Las Vegas Light the past two seasons. He’s notched 18 goals during that stretch in addition to six assists. He also made three appearances with LAFC in 2022. His 14 goals in 2022 was tied for tenth best in the league.

“My expectations are to win a championship this season,” Trejo said. “We will take it game by game and work hard to accomplish one goal at a time. Together we will strive to make ourselves and our fans proud.”

Rising’s home opener at 38th Street and Washington is set for Saturday, April 1 (7:30 p.m.), vs. San Diego Loyal SC. Fans can click here to learn more about securing tickets for that match OR here to view the full schedule.
