KANSAS CITY – The Kansas City Current announced
today the signing of midfielder and captain Desiree Scott for the 2023 season. The veteran free agent returns for her third season with the Current and her seventh in the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL).

“Desi is an extremely important part of this club, and we are so happy to have her return for the 2023 season,” said General Manager Camille Levin
Ashton. “Her leadership and infectious positivity lift up this team, both on the field and off.”

An original member of the NWSL, Scott began her professional career in Kansas City in 2013. Scott has played 124 games in the NWSL and surpassed
10,000 minutes played August 7 of last season as the Current beat the San Diego Wave 2-1 on the road. Scott was named the team captain prior to the 2022 season and was a vital part of the team’s success.

Recognizing her leadership, she was named the inaugural winner of the Ally Award, presented by Ally Bank and the NWSL Player’s Association. This
award recognizes the athlete that embodies the idea of “teammate,” supporting and motivating rookies and veterans alike and was voted on by her peers.

Internationally, Scott has been a presence on the Canadian National Team since she was 16 years old with the youth national teams. She made her
senior team debut for her country at the 2010 Cyprus Cup. Since then she has earned 186 caps for Canada, and helped her team to appearances in the 2011, 2015 and 2019 FIFA World Cups; along with bronze medals in the 2012 and 2016 Olympics and the Gold Medal
at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

“I am extremely excited to be back in Kansas City and for another opportunity to bring a championship home,” said Scott. “We now have playoff
and championship experience but even more importantly, the belief that we belong on those big stages! I know as a group we learned a lot last season and the motivation is definitely there to make this 2023 season another one to remember. Looking forward to
an exciting year with this incredible group!”
