Barcelona are reportedly interested in snapping up Manchester City midfielder Ilkay Gundogan on a free transfer this summer.
The 32-year-old has been a key figure for Pep Guardiola‘s City in recent seasons, but has less than six months remaining on his current contract.
The German midfielder was named club captain in the summer after the departure of Brazilian Fernandinho and remains a regular, having played 25 times in all competitions so far this season.

The Spanish giants have been exploring midfielders with expiring contracts, including Chelsea and France star N’Golo Kante.
Kante, however, is set to sign a new deal at Stamford Bridge – therefore the focus for the boss Xavi has switched to City midfielder Gundogan, according to The Telegraph.
The Premier League champions could still yet to decide to offer Gundogan a new contract to keep him at the Etihad Stadium.

City may be happy to let Gundogan seek a new challenge and snap up a replacement, as they are already targeting Borussia Dortmund and England star Jude Bellingham.
They are willing to rival both Liverpool and Real Madrid for the midfielder’s signature this summer.
Boss Guardiola is no doubt keen to sign Bellingham regardless of whether or not Gundogan stays at the club.
