Man Utd attacker Marcus Rashford reportedly feels that his representative’s ‘meeting’ with French giants PSG in the summer was ‘ill-advised’.

It initially looked possible that Rashford could leave for PSG in the summer after he struggled in 2021/22 under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Ralf Rangnick.

The forward underwent shoulder surgery after the European Championships in 2021 and he suffered a crisis of confidence after recovering to full fitness.

He was afforded a fresh start under Erik ten Hag in the summer and there has perhaps not been a single Man Utd player who has benefitted more from the Dutchman’s arrival.

Rashford has been in stunning form this term as he has grabbed 16 goals and six assists in 26 appearances across all competitions.

The Englishman scored United’s winning goal against Man City on Sunday as they moved level on points with their local rivals. He has now netted in four consecutive league games.

PSG chief Nasser Al-Khelaifi admitted in December that he has “spoken before” with Rashford about a transfer.

“He’s another player that is really amazing,” Al-Khelaifi told Sky Sports. “And for free? To have Rashford for free, every club would run after him, definitely.”

“Today if he’s a free agent of course we can talk to him directly but we are not going to talk to him now. Let him focus on the World Cup. Then after in January, hopefully, if we’re interested we will talk to him.”

Manchester Evening News are now reporting that Rashford’s brother and agent, Dwaine Maynard, ‘met with PSG in August’.

According to ‘sources close to Rashford at the time’, it was felt that this ‘rendezvous’ was ‘ill-advised’.

As he continued to go from strength to strength in a United shirt, it is now expected that he will remain at the club.

Rashford’s contract was due to be up in the summer but Man Utd have exercised the option to extend his deal until 2024. They have done the same thing with Luke Shaw, Diogo Dalot and Fred.

They could have done that with David De Gea but with him, they are looking to renegotiate a new deal on fresh terms lower than his current £375,000 a week salary.

Rashford ‘will be offered an improved deal’ and Ten Hag ‘is also eager for Dalot, Shaw and Fred to be tied down on longer deals’.

As for De Gea, they ‘could finalise new…
