'Frustrating and Incredibly Challenging': Pressure Mounts on Potter

Under-fire Chelsea boss Graham Potter concedes the club’s plight is “really frustrating and incredibly challenging” after slumping to a disappointing 2-1 loss at Fulham on Thursday.

The Blues are winless from their past three Premier League games, slipping down to 10th spot on the league table.

Potter’s side have actually only lost three in a row in all competitions, while they’ve only won once in their past eight games.

To make matters worse, new signing Joao Felix was sent off on his debut against Fulham when scores were 1-1 before Carlos Vinicius’ 73rd minute winner.

“It’s really frustrating and incredibly challenging,” Potter told reporters. “I feel for the supporters. We’re disappointed to lose tonight.

“I thought it was a relatively even game in the first half and we had a couple of good chances. I think the basics we can do better in terms of our defending and some of our football actions.

“But at the same time, we get back in the game and then the red card…it’s where we’re at at the moment in terms of things that can happen to us.

“We lost Denis (Zakaria) beforehand as well and were just adjusting with Jorginho and then Joao who was having a fantastic impact on the game and you could see his quality to lose him and to lose him for three matches is really disappointing.”

Potter added that understood the fans’ disappointment with anger emanating from the away supporters’ area after the game with the Chelsea players going straight down the tunnel.

“I can also understand they are frustrated because we’ve lost,” Potter said. “That is normal.

“I made sure I went over and clapped them because you appreciate the support. Its not easy. Were suffering and they are suffering.

“We feel for them and feel their disappointment. I think it’s important we stick together and try to get through this tough period, because it really is a tough period.”
