Tori Hansen Selected By Orlando Pride In NWSL Draft

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – UNC senior defender Tori Hansen, a first-team All-America player, was selected by the Orlando Pride in the third round of the 2023 National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) Draft Thursday night.

Hansen is the 21st Tar Heel taken in the NWSL Draft and the first drafted by the Orlando Pride.

A four-year letterman from Raleigh, N.C., Hansen led the Tar Heels to a runner-up finish in the 2022 NCAA Women’s Soccer Championship and a share of the ACC regular season title. She was tabbed first-team All-America by College Soccer News after being named a United Soccer Coaches All-America second-team honoree.

Hansen was also a first-team All-ACC and United Soccer Coaches All-Atlantic Region selection. She played the full time in 22 matches and logged 2,271 minutes in 26 matches – playing over 1,000 minutes more this season than in 33 matches during the previous three seasons combined.

She led all Power Five defenders with eight goals during the season, tying for 10th in the ACC in total goals scored. Five of her eight goals scored were via penalty kick, tops in Division I.

Hansen earned all-tournament honors during the ACC and NCAA Championships.
