Nottingham Forest expect to confirm the signing of Danilo from Palmeiras for £18m plus add-ons despite a rival offer from Monaco.

Danilo would become Forest’s second signing of the January transfer window, following the addition of attacking midfielder Gustavo Scarpa.

The Brazilian is expected to travel to England to complete a medical, before finalising his move.

Danilo is expected to join Nottingham Forest for a deal that could rise above £20million

The deal would continue Forest’s spending after Steve Cooper’s side underwent a massive overhaul in the summer transfer window last year.

Forest look to have fended off late interest from Ligue 1 side Monaco to sign the 21-year-old midfielder.

The addition of Danilo will strengthen Cooper’s midfield options, with Cheikhou Kouyate still recovering from injury.

Danilo has long been linked with a move to Europe, with Arsenal having previously held an interest.

The Gunners cooled their interest late in the summer transfer window.

Danilo has formed a key part of the Palmeiras side since making his debut in 2020, helping the side secure consecutive Copa Libertadores.

Danilo has featured for Palmeiras since he was a teenager and racked up more than 130 appearances for his boyhood side.

Last year alone, he played 50 times and is already experienced for his age.

The defensive midfielder added to his growing medal collection in November, as Palmeiras were crowned Brazilian champions for the 11th time.

Danilo indicated he would be willing to discuss a move following the triumph.
