Chattanooga Red Wolves Sign Guatemalan National Team Captain Ricardo Jerez

The Chattanooga Red Wolves are pleased to announce the signing of Ricardo Jerez from
Guatemalan first tier side CSD Municipal. Contract pending league and federation approval.

“I am happy to welcome Ricardo and his family to the Chattanooga community.” Said Head
Coach Ziggy Korytoski, “His experience at the club and international level will be invaluable to
the leadership of our team. “


Ricardo Jerez, a goalkeeper, is the captain of the Guatemalan National Team and has played at
the top levels of domestic football in both Colombia and Guatemala winning the Apetura with
the historic Guatemalan side CSD Municipal in 2007. He has also participated in elite
international competition such as World Cup qualifiers and the Gold Cup.

His impressive career for both club and country spans 496 appearances, 60 at the national level
and 436 at the club level, keeping 171 clean sheets over the course of his professional career.
Jerez made a majority of his club appearances for Alianza Petrolera in Colombia’s top flight,
making 256 appearances and keeping 80 clean sheets with the club in stints from 2013-2016
and 2018-2020.

“My relationship with Ziggy is one of the main factors in my decision to come to Chattanooga,”
said Ricardo. “I know he is a wonderful coach, and he has told me about the vision of the club
and the passion of the Red Wolves’ fan base.”

Ricardo made 85 appearances for Guatemalan first tier giants CSD Municipal in stints in 2007
and from 2020-2022, keeping 35 clean sheets in his time with the club.

“It’s not often that teams get the opportunity to bring national team representation to their
club, so signing Ricardo Jerez not only shows the Red Wolves commitment to building a
championship level roster, but it also demonstrates our desire to compete on a higher level,”
said Club President and General Manager Sean McDaniel. “We are very happy to have Ricardo
and his family in Chattanooga and look forward to having him represent the Scenic City on a
global stage.”

“I promise to the supporters that they are going to find in me a professional player who is
committed to using my experience on the pitch to help the team succeed in 2023,” said Jerez. “I
want to help bring the USL League One title to Chattanooga while sharing my passion for the
game and my time with the community.”
