Turkish Super Lig side Besiktas reportedly want to send Dele Alli back to Everton but any return seems unlikely with there not thought to be a break clause in his loan agreement. 

Alli, 26, joined Besiktas on loan from Everton last summer in a bid to spark some life into his fledgling career after a number of difficult years. 

The former Tottenham man appeared delighted to have arrived in Turkey last summer, with supporters noting the return of a wide grin that had seemed to desert Alli amid the toughest spell of his career.

The move has failed to work out with Alli struggling to make an impact in a Besiktas side that currently sit fifth in the league. 

According to reports, as a result of his struggles and their disappointment with his performance levels, Besiktas wish to send him back to England. 

However, this is reported to be unlikely to be possible, with no break clause existing in the agreement between the two clubs and an expectation on Everton’s side that should they end the loan early, they would still be liable to pay his wages in full and the pre-agreed £1m loan fee.

Alli has only appeared for a total of 450 minutes across seven league games for Besiktas so far this season, with his solitary goal coming in his second game.  

The reports mark another low point in the career of Alli, who after bursting onto the scene with Tottenham and England has struggled to grapple with a sharp decline in performance. 

Under Mauricio Pochettino, Alli appeared to be one of the brightest young talents the country had produced, as he drove his side on to three lofty finishes in the Premier League. 

His role in the success of that team was not overlooked, with Alli twice being named the PFA’s Young Player of the Year, in 2015-16 and 2016-17, as well as making the team of the year in each of those seasons.
