Dele Alli has one month to save Besiktas career as things get worse amid ‘termination’ rumours

Besiktas midfielder Dele Alli could be sent back to Everton this month with the Turkish club reportedly contemplating terminating his loan.

Dele broke onto the scene with Tottenham Hotspur in 2015 after the Premier League side paid around £5million to sign him from MK Dons.

The English midfielder hit the ground running in the top flight, taking home the PFA Young Player of the Year award in his first two seasons.

The 26-year-old quickly became a mainstay in the England team, making his debut under Roy Hodgson in 2015 at the age of 19.

Dele has 37 caps for the Three Lions but has not played for his country since June 2019.

He has rightly been out in the cold under Gareth Southgate after a bizarrely severe drop-off in form.

The first sign that Dele was declining came in the 2019-20 campaign after he began to really struggle when the season resumed following the Covid-19 break.

After failing to rediscover his form for Tottenham, he was sold to Premier League rivals Everton.

The Toffees took Dele off Spurs’ hands in January 2022. Frank Lampard’s side did not pay a transfer fee but could have paid around £30m if performance and appearance-related clauses were met.

None have been met at this stage, to my knowledge, and none look like they will be met.

After a disappointing second half to the 21-22 season, Dele was given a much-needed fresh start with Turkish giants Besiktas.

It has not gone to plan for the player, however, who is not out of form anymore, but simply a below-average footballer, which is bizarre to say as he should be entering his prime years now, yet his peak came as a teenager.

Dele has only played 11 times this season, contributing to two goals and finding himself out of favour.

He was recently jeered off during a Turkish Cup match against lower-league side Sanliurfaspor after being taken off in the 29th minute.

Things are going from bad to worse for Dele, who has not been in the headlines for the right reasons for several years now.

According to Turkish outlet Sabah, Besiktas are considering terminating Dele’s loan this month.

It is said that Besiktas ‘may part ways’ with Dele halfway through the season, with his performances this month ‘determining’ his future in Turkey.

If his performances in January ‘are still unsatisfactory’, the Turkish side will ‘start official talks’ with Everton.

I am guessing we will see Dele back in Liverpool sooner than expected…
