Wright names Arsenal trio who must stay fit for chance at Premier League title

Ian Wright speaks about Argentina

Arsenal legend Ian Wright believes Arsenal have a “very good chance of winning the Premier League” if a trio of Gunners stars stay fit throughout the season.

Mikel Arteta’s side dropped points in the league for just the third time this season on Tuesday as they drew 0-0 with Newcastle at the Emirates.

But that point took them eight points clear of Manchester City in second place and the Arsenal faithful are starting to believes this could be their year.

And Wright reckons his former side have a very good chance to go all the way, but success depends on three players in particular, who have been critical so far this season.

“I keep saying it’s just about enjoying the moment,” the pundit said on The Kelly and Wrighty show.

“The players are clearly dialled in to what they’re doing but it’s going to be tough.

“We know how good Manchester City are and they’re probably the only team who could take a couple of injuries to key players and still win the league.

“Arsenal fans know this is a very special time, it feels good and they’re answering every question right now.

“But if there are a couple of injuries it could be a different story.

“There’s still a chance Arsenal will try and sign a couple of players in January.

“But when you look at the team this season, Saka’s done it, Partey’s done it, Odegaard has done it.

“Those are the ones, if Partey, Odegaard and Saka stay fit – which is going to be very tough – then I think Arsenal have got a very good chance of winning the league.”

Gary Neville claims what Arteta and Arsenal are doing is “remarkable” but doesn’t see them ending the season as champions.

“Before this game tonight it was 16 games played – that is nowhere near title talk, you’re miles away, absolutely miles away. These two teams tonight, I know there’s been title talk, I didn’t see the champions here tonight, personally, but I didn’t think they were champions at the start of the season so where they are is remarkable.”
