The Saints are bottom of the Premier League and Nathan Jones is looking to strengthen his side before the end of the window in a bid to boost their survival hopes.

Southampton though have been rebuffed in their efforts to sign Mislav Orsic from Dinamo Zagreb.

Jones’s side put in a bid of £5million for the veteran Croatian forward, but were turned down.

They also remain keen on Lorient forward Terem Moffi who is third in the Ligue 1 scoring charts with ten goals in 14 appearances.

Southampton though could face a challenge from West Ham for the forward, as they have spoken to the 23-year-old’s representatives.

Jones’ side could also lose a forward during the January window, with Dan Nlundulu in talks to join Bolton.
