Liverpool eye Argentina star as Man Utd target Rennes hitman

Martin Terrier celebrates scoring for Rennes.

Liverpool are among the clubs eyeing an impossibly-cheap deal for World Cup winner Alexis Mac Allister, while Manchester United’s striker search has led them to Rennes…

LIVERPOOL IN MAC ALLISTER RACE
With Cody Gakpo wrapped up, it was expected that much of Liverpool’s focus through the early part of 2023 would be on Jude Bellingham. But it seems the pendulum has swung back in Real Madrid’s favour…

Real and Liverpool appear to be the frontrunners for the England midfielder, despite interest also from Chelsea, Manchester City and Manchester United. After the World Cup, the speculation suggested the Reds were leading the race, but Goal says Real are best placed to land the Borussia Dortmund teenager.

Apparently, Bellingham remains Real’s priority for next summer, despite earlier noises to the contrary, while the player is said to have ‘informed his entourage’ of his preference to move to Madrid over Merseyside.

Regardless of the outcome of negotiations over Bellingham, it seems Liverpool and Dortmund have a mutual interest in Alexis Mac Allister.

The story goes that Mac Allister could be available for between £31million and £34million, which is unlikely to be true. Brighton are no mugs when it comes to selling their biggest assets, and Mac Allister is under contract until at least 2025. UNITED, SPURS TARGET TERRIER
Manchester United have got a month to source a goalscorer and their search is said to have taken them to France…

Terrier was close to making France’s World Cup squad and he was available for around £30million during the summer. That figure is expected to have risen given his continued goalscoring form, with Tottenham rivalling United for Terrier’s signature.

MILAN’S GREAL DEAL
Manchester City are also on the lookout for a forward, though their need is rather less urgent than United’s. Pep…
