Liverpool target price revealed, Newcastle make Memphis offer

Enzo Fernandez and Memphis Depay

Liverpool will have to pay £87m for Enzo Fernandez after his World Cup exploits while Newcastle are offering rather less for Memphis Depay.

LIVERPOOL TARGET PRICE REVEALED
If Liverpool thought they could get Enzo Fernandez significantly cheaper than Jude Bellingham then that illusion was shattered when he was crowned young player of the World Cup after winning the tournament with Argentina.

It seems that Benfica can smell the money as Tuttosport claim that his price has quadrupled during the tournament so the 21-year-old – who cost them just over £10m from River Plate just a few months ago – is now commanding a fee of £87m. As his release clause is north of £100m, the Reds might actually consider this a bargain.

Word from Argentina is that Liverpool will actually offer £80m – with £20m of that fee going to River Plate – but that Benfica will not allow the deal to go through until the summer.

WALKING IN MEMPHIS
The gossip on Wednesday was that Marcus Thuram was close to signing for Newcastle but on Thursday the big Toon target is Memphis Depay, with Mundo Deportivo claiming that the club will offer £17.5m for the Dutchman in January.

But unfortunately Depay knows that if he waits until the summer – when he can leave Barcelona for free – he might get a) a bigger club and b) a big signing-on fee. So it seems he might wait, even though he is way down the attacking pecking order at the Nou Camp.

Santos has already made 38 appearances for Vasco da Gama and scored eight goals.

‘Personal terms are almost agreed, deal at final stages,’ was the update from Fabrizio Romano, with the Mail adding that ‘it’s understood that Santos is not expected to slot straight into the first-team squad when he arrives in London.  The Brazilian could adapt to life in the Premier League between January and the summer – with the long-term…
