France star ‘arouses the interest’ of Man Utd with €60m offer already put on the table

Manchester United want to sign Atletico Madrid and France star Antoine Griezmann and have already lodged a bid, according to reports in Spain.

Griezmann enjoyed a terrific World Cup with France as Didier Deschamps’ side lost the final to Argentina.

The former Barcelona forward was incredibly influential for his country playing a deeper role than usual, but struggled to make an impact in the heartbreaking loss to Argentina.

Given his stellar showing in Qatar, some media outlets have jumped on the transfer bandwagon ahead of the winter window.

Saturday’s Gossip stated that United are interested, with Mediafoot claiming that manager Erik ten Hag likes the player and his versatility.

Griezmann re-joined Atletico Madrid last summer after a difficult spell with Barcelona, who only received half of the £34million they initially wanted from their La Liga rivals.

And despite settling back in with the Colchoneros, he is being linked with a January exit.

According to Spanish outlet Fichajes, Atletico ‘do not intend’ to let France hero Griezmann leave.

United ‘want to break the market’ to sign the Frenchman, and have already made their ‘first offer’.

The offer was apparently worth €60m, which could tempt Atletico into a sale given their financial situation.

Diego Simeone could still opt against selling his star man due to his importance to the team.

The report adds that Griezmann could be the ‘chosen one’ to replace Cristiano Ronaldo at Old Trafford following the 37-year-old’s exit.

Atletico are eager to raise funds, and selling Griezmann may not be necessary given Joao Felix’s situation at the club.

The Portuguese forward has reportedly fallen out with Simeone and wants to leave.

Aston Villa, Arsenal and United have all been linked with Felix, while European heavyweights Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich are also believed to be interested.

Atletico paid a whopping €127m to sign Felix from Benfica and are hoping to sell him for a similar fee.

Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano recently said that there is a strong chance the 23-year-old could move clubs in 2023.

“Joao Felix has chances to leave Atletico in 2023, for sure,” Romano wrote on Twitter. “Asking price will be more than €100m, around €120m – then will depend on the proposals.”

Another Atleti forward linked with an exit is Matheus Cunha, who is reportedly close…
