How the 9 Spurs loanees are faring in 2022-23: Winks, Lo Celso, Rodon...

Tottenham have had quite the squad overhaul under Antonio Conte and as a result of their summer dealings, several youngsters and first-team players were sent out on loan.

Conte has Spurs in contention for a top-four finish this season and the signs of progression under the Italian manager have been obvious to see so far.

We’ve looked into the nine players that they currently have out on loan and assessed how well they have done in 2022-23 so far.

Harry Winks

Often used as a utility player at Spurs, Winks joined up with Serie A side Sampdoria on a loan deal until the end of the season, which has the option to be made permanent at the end of the season.

The 26-year-old is still waiting on his Serie A debut though as an ankle injury has kept him out of action for the entire season so far. He is now back in light training, but reports have claimed that his loan move could be cut short.

Sergio Reguilon

The experienced Ivan Perisic took Reguilon’s spot in the first team and so he was sent on loan to Atletico Madrid until the end of the season.

Reguilon has been sidelined for most of the season so far after recovering from a groin injury in the summer. He has only made one competitive appearance for Atletico so far. However, he did feature in a recent club friendly and provided two assists in a 4-2 victory.

Tanguy Ndombele

Ndombele has played a supporting role for Napoli this season who are currently one of the most in-form teams in Europe. He has featured in 18 matches this season, but only started in eight fixtures.

Former Napoli man Paolo Di Canio told Mattino in September: “I will just say if Spalletti performs a miracle with Ndombele, I’ll take my hat off to him and give him my compliments.

“This lad is really not accustomed to sacrificing himself for the team with work when he’s off the ball. I don’t expect Spalletti to get Ndombele to walk on water, but if he at least manages to get him swimming, it’d be an extraordinary success.”

Giovani Lo Celso

Lo Celso, unfortunately, missed out on Argentina’s World Cup squad due to an injury he sustained while on loan with Villarreal. The playmaker had also spent the second half of last season on loan with the Spanish club.

The 26-year-old was a regular starter for Villarreal but has not featured since picking up a hamstring injury against Athletic Bilbao in late October.
