DES MOINES, Iowa – Pro Iowa, the organization formed to bring professional soccer to Iowa, and the Des Moines Menace invite Iowans to a final watch party on Sunday, Dec. 18 at Big Grove Brewery – 555 17th St. in Des Moines – for the World Cup’s championship match between Argentina and France. One lucky person in attendance will win a 65-inch flat-screen TV and a Big Grove Brewery prize pack.
The final watch party on Sunday concludes a series of nine local events that Pro Iowa and the Des Moines Menace have hosted at locations throughout the community for the World Cup. In total, the watch parties brought over 3,000 Iowans together with more than 750 attending the USA vs. England event at Big Grove Brewery on Nov. 25 and approximately 800 at The Hall to watch USA vs. Netherlands on Dec. 3.
“The community response to these watch parties has been tremendous and makes it clear that Iowa is a soccer state,” says Kyle Davy, Director of Revenue for Pro Iowa. “Iowans are excited about the game. They’re excited to bring professional soccer to their home state. With each party, we’re building new friendships and meeting more and more soccer advocates. We look forward to building this momentum for one final match.”
One individual who attends the Dec. 18 watch party will receive a 65-inch UHD 4K flat-screen TV from Hisense and a Big Grove Brewery prize pack. The individual must be present to win.
Big Grove Brewery’s doors will open at 8 a.m. before the 9 a.m. start time of the final match. Bar service will be available when the doors open and food starting at 9 a.m. The restaurant and taproom will offer their regular menu in addition to the following specials in honor of the final match.
Locro: A hearty winter Argentinian stew with four types of meat, hominy, squash and a medley of other veggies and spices.
Cassoulet: A French-inspired dish of pork belly, chicken and beans, all in a deeply rich stock.
